In my story Change of the Guard, a Cold War border guard vampire spy struggles to survive through the fall of the Wall that has protected his mission and his very existence. This story begged to be written after I ran across an old pic I took at Checkpoint Charlie, back in the day.
WonderBird Press introduces this spooky anthology:
So you survived the turning. Congratulations! But with sunlight, stakes, and stranger terrors lurking around every corner, how will you make it through your first year, let alone century, of a vampiric existence? VAMPIRE SURVIVAL GUIDE provides seventeen cautionary tales from your fanged fellows, hoping you won’t have to make the same mistakes to learn some valuable lessons.
My spooooky story in THEY HUNT BY NIGHT is set in medieval Scotland in dangerous reiver lands.
From anthology editor Lyn Worthen:
History is filled with legends of those who walk among us, living seemingly innocent lives by day, only to transform into fearsome creatures as the daylight fades and the shadows deepen.
These are the stories of those who HUNT BY NIGHT.
Contains stories by Lee Allred, Tami Veldura, Leigh Saunders, L.D.B. Taylor, Sidney Williams, Elizabeth Hosang, John Di Donna, L.A. Selby, T.C. Ross, K. Anders, Re Gwaltney, Gary Robbe, and Daniel Gonzalez. Edited by Lyn Worthen”
As a group, we dug up Eldritch beings from beyond, raised the dead, and dove into the very horror films we loved. Our process was so terrifying that some of our slush readers had to run away. (Okay, just Kalyani)
Sara Jordan-Heintz brought her established editorial skills and a love for horror when she selected and edited the stories. You’re going to love her choices.
We survived. We think. We hope.
It’s time to turn the “man and his dog wandering through a dystopian world” trope on its head, and tell the stories about cats and their women – their badass women!

Bio: Ares, god of war, hides in Milton’s head.
Milton wants him out.
In a barren world where even anger is forbidden, where a man’s passions must be strictly
controlled,
Milton must choose between an intolerable obedience and the destruction of all he loves.
The Last Gasp of War, a supernatural conflict hiding in a dystopian futuristic world, appears in
Dreaming the God, an anthology exploring the divine masculine as it appears from England to South America, Greece to New Zealand, and Egypt to China.
My story, A Ruinous Rent, appears in this alternate history anthology A Bit of Luck edited by Lisa Mangum and published by WordFire Press.
